Power BI Training and Enablement Across the Enterprise

The Client

A leading automotive manufacturer in Australia with a strong national footprint and a commitment to operational excellence. The business operates across multiple divisions and was seeking to improve how data is used at all levels of the organisation.

The Problem

A major automotive manufacturer in Australia recognised that its investment in Microsoft Power BI was underutilised. While the platform had been deployed, adoption across teams was low and usage was inconsistent. Staff lacked the skills to confidently build dashboards or conduct their own data analysis. Reporting remained centralised and slow, limiting the business impact of data. Without a scalable approach to data analytics training, the full potential of Power BI was not being realised.

The Solution

Pentify Insights was brought in to design and deliver an end-to-end Power BI enablement program that would work across the client’s core business divisions. This included:

• Developing a complete Power BI training program from beginner to advanced level

• Creating all training material tailored to the client’s internal systems and use cases

• Running hands-on training sessions for employees across multiple departments

• Covering the full analytics journey from semantic model understanding to dashboard creation and data storytelling

• Ensuring staff could build and share reports independently using consistent design and logic

  
  

This project focused on building internal capability in Power BI, not just delivering reports. The training was rolled out across three business-critical divisions, giving a broad cross-section of the company the skills they needed to work with data directly.

The Outcome

This project transformed how data is used inside the business. With hundreds of employees trained:

• Teams now create and maintain their own dashboards

• Data requests to the central analytics team have dropped significantly

• Staff are using Power BI to drive faster, more confident decisions

• Consistent Power BI reporting standards are emerging across divisions

The company now operates with a far more self-sufficient and data-literate workforce. Employees are empowered to use data in their day-to-day work, making the most of the tools already in place.

Next Steps

Following the success of the initial rollout, the organisation is planning to embed Power BI further into its reporting processes. Department-level champions have been appointed to provide ongoing coaching and support.
